Every year exchanges take place, alternately year by year, with up to 40 people visiting Montbazon or Brentwood, hosting each other in families. A warm welcome is assured during every visit and lifelong friendships have been formed.

During the visits, which last up to 6 days, a busy programme of trips out and social events are organised by the town twinning committees. The association has to raise all of the monies necessary for this by a programme of regular fund raising events between visits.

2019 saw members of the Brentwood Town Twinning Association visiting Montbazon.  A great time was had by all and a report of the visit and photographs will be on the website shortly.

2022 will see Brentwood hosting Montbazon visitors in July.  Already planning has started on the trips and social evenings for this visit.  There will be numerous fund raising events held in the next few months.  Some of these are members only but some are open to the general public.

In the New Year appeals will go out for families to host our French visitors.  If you host you don’t have to go back to Montbazon the following year.  We are particular keen in finding hosts who would be able to accommodate families.

French hope come to England in 2022

We have received a message from the Montbazon Town Twinning Association regarding their proposed visit for 2022:

They would like to come from 25th to 29th May, and hope to travel by plane to Stansted.

The Executive Committee discussed rough alternative dates too: from about the 8th July or from about the 15th August, both likely to be for 5 days and they are not likely to eat into 2 separate weeks.

The Social Committee are very busy looking at events that might be held and places that the French might like to visit

If you would like to take part, please could you let the Secretary know as soon as possible which of these dates you could host someone and how many people you could host – they have several families in their Twinning now.

Unfortunately once again owing to the COVID-19 situation and by agreement with our friends in Montbazon, the planned visit for August 2021 has also postponed.

Hopefully we will be able to go ahead in 2022, when we will be back on the original rotation.
