Are you joining us on 8 January?

Why, I hear you ask.

Well, it’s our annual celebration of the French version of our Epiphany – the Fête des Rois. Check out details on our Events/Forthcoming Events page and make sure you book in good time – places are strictly limited.

Good food, good company and games: the perfect way to tackle 2022. And a “king” will be chosen on each table!

We’ll keep you posted on forthcoming events.

Informal French Conversation

For various reasons it looks like the original days of Wednesday and Thursday mornings alternating are no longer possible in 2022. Monday, however, appears to be OK.

So it is proposed that informal French conversation sessions will take place on monthly on the first Monday of the month; but starting on 10th January from 10.30 to 12 noon. The first Monday, 3rd, is a Bank Holiday and considered to be rather too close to the New Year Festivities!

A reminder will be sent nearer the date, but please save the date!

The location will be as previously, in the corner next to the Coffee Shop. The Coffee Shop is currently closed but you are welcome to bring your own.

The fee will be £2 per person per session (to defray the costs of hiring the library space); correct money would be appreciated, please.

All are welcome, whether or not you are a member of the Association and whatever the level of your French.  French speakers (and dictionaries!) will be on hand to help you.

We look forward to seeing lots of you there.

We’re back !

back

After a long period of inactivity, the Brentwood/Montbazon Town Twinning site is back and active.  But there’s still a lot of clearing up to do but this will happen over a period of time.

We want to know from you, please:

  • any comments you have about the site, good or bad
  • what you want to see on the site
  • anything else relevant to Town Twinning.

As we seek to make the French Twinning more visible across the borough, the site will become a prime method of communication.

Please help us.  Thank you.

French town twinning summer

chouette ete We had our AGM on the 26th June with changes in the Executive Committee (click here for details).

We have just said good bye to the Harmonie du Val de l’Indre who came to visit and treat us to a performance in the High Street on Saturday 5th July and a concert at the Ursulines on Sunday 6th July in the evening, joined by Brentwood Phoenix Youth Orchestra. Check out pictures and videos on our facebook page (no need to have a facebook account to view) or our Events page.

Then the Tour de France was very close yesterday and it seems that Essex gave it a very warm welcome.

Tonight is our summer walk in Blackmore, followed by a ploughman’s diner at the Prince Albert.

Some of us will attend the Chelmsford French Circle BBQ this Sunday 13th July to celebrate Bastille Day (14 juillet).

Our Montbazon visitors will be with us at the end of August (21-26th) to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Town Twinning. The Social Committee is putting the final touch to an exciting programme of visits and fingers crossed the weather will stay nice.

We’re planning a conversation evening in the Autumn as well as other events, but more info to come later in the summer on this.

Do not hesitate to contact us if you have an idea for an event or want to organise something, and you are welcome to join our Social Committee (no need to be elected at the AGM for this) to contribute to the organisation of events, the more the merrier!
